Jay A. Gilbertz

Jay Gilbertz is a Wyoming native who grew up on a cattle ranch and remains active in his family’s ranching operations. He earned his law degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1996 and joined Yonkee & Toner that same year.

Jay is an invited Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers, and he holds an AV® rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He is licensed to practice in Wyoming state and federal courts, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Jay is primarily a trial lawyer who represents both plaintiffs and defendants in civil matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, business litigation and other complex litigation. His trial experience includes soil contamination cases, fire and explosion litigation, property damage claims, business and contract disputes, and the defense of physicians and hospitals in technical medical malpractice matters.  Because he is a “ranch kid” he enjoys representing farming and ranching clients when litigation is necessary, including cases against oil and gas companies.
